About

Slammed managers waste their best people.

Why it exists

Leaders drive performance. Keeping it up takes time and intention most managers don’t have, and a kind of self-awareness almost nobody is handed. So companies buy assessments, 360s, surveys and coaches, and then need someone to make sense of all of it.

Inside large companies the same question kept coming back: how do we help managers become better people leaders without 50 hours of training a month? A coach works, and coaching stops at the top 50 because of time and money. Spherikal gives everybody else that coach, and it already knows the people they work with.

of the difference in engagement from one team to the next comes down to the manager.

Who built it

Spherikal is built by Reason Talent, founded by Chris Coultas, PhD, an industrial-organizational psychologist.

Chris spent five years leading performance and engagement at a Fortune 500 company, where he changed how the whole enterprise develops its people. He equipped more than four thousand people leaders to coach their teams, built a culture where development is part of the job instead of a once-a-year form, and raised engagement across the enterprise.

Before that he spent seven years at Leadership Worth Following, coaching and assessing hundreds of leaders in logistics, manufacturing, oil and gas, semiconductors, food science, retail and fintech. He knows what good looks like because he has measured it, up close, in every kind of business. He also built a personality and motives assessment from concept through validation and certified more than eighty practitioners on it.

It started with research. At the Institute for Simulation and Training he worked alongside Dr. Eduardo Salas, won a SHRM research grant to study what makes coaching work, and did award-winning research on the psychology of the coaching relationship. He also wrote Driven Not Drained, a book about self-awareness at work.
